No Notes (This is writing) is an artist publication that arose out of a shared interest in what it means to practice writing or something other. Written with Francesca Rendle-Short as a form of “across-speak” texted back and forth through iNotes, the collaborative text is a drafting in action made concrete in poetic notes without revision.
Tuned to the specifics of the page, spacings signal shifts in voice, temporality, lapses and crossings. Neither side is identified with an author and it is no longer possible for either writer to recall precisely who wrote which text.
The material edition has been performed several times as choral, cacophonous, unrehearsed public reading of random pages. Transposing the rhythm of written dialogue into other bodies opens the bounded and printed text to new arrangements and many voices.
